About

Where we've been

OFC began when two Bay Area grassroots community-based organizations merged in the late 1990s. We've grown over the years to become the leading LGBTQ+ family advocacy agency in the state, and one of the few such organizations of this size nation-wide. Individual families continue to be our inspiration; collective liberation and well-being continues to be our mission. Read on below for more.

What We Believe

Our Family Coalition advances equity for the full and expanding spectrum of LGBTQ families and children through support, education, and advocacy. Uniquely situated at the intersection of LGBTQ+ and family justice work, we are powered by community, and inspired by a love of children and families and a vision of a just society where we all belong and thrive.

What We Do

For over twenty-five years, Our Family Coalition has fostered community-building and resilience among LGBTQ+ parents and caregivers through a vibrant calendar of family support workshops, groups, classes, and events; provided education about family diversity and anti-bias work to educators and child-serving professionals, and collaborated alongside partner organizations in vigorous advocacy for social, political, and cultural change. Our work will continue until the full and expanding spectrum of LGBTQ+ families and children are free to fully thrive.
