Dear Families,
Our Family Coalition is dismayed with the Supreme Court decision in U.S. v. Skrmetti. This decision is harmful to trans youth and their families, by taking personal medical decisions away from families and medical providers and placing it in the hands of politicians. However, while this decision is a setback the Court left us with other tools to fight back against the political extremists targeting transgender people’s safety and dignity.
We must remember that justice delayed is not justice denied. So, we will continue to advocate for everyone within our community to get the health care they need, including our trans youth and adults, as well as for their rights to control their own futures.
Update -There will be Proud and Free events across the country. As a movement, we are sending a message to our loved ones and the opposition in response to the ruling in Skrmetti: Trans people and their allies are united for trans power, joy, and respect, no matter what. As our opposition wields disinformation, we are doubling down on this summer of resistance.
